Biography:

Marco Gutierrez was born in Mexico City, Mexico and moved to Austin, Texas when he was a child. While matriculating through school and graduating from Travis High School in 2007, Marco developed a strong appreciation for the game of soccer.  After his high school graduation, he decided to stay local and attended Huston-Tillotson University in East Austin.  Marco was a student athlete at HT graduating with a B.A. in Kinesiology.  He pursued his Masters in Coaching and Athletic Administration in Exercise and Sports Science from Concordia Irvine University as a capstone to his academic career.

Coach Marco has successfully trained and coached players at every stage of his post-academic career, with a focus on developing the ’total’ player.  His most recent coaching efforts have led his teams to perform at their highest levels in securing or maintaining positions in Frontier League (US Youth Soccer League), Champions League USC (United Soccer Clubs) , and SCL (State Classic League).  Coach Marco believes the ’total’ player is one that is technically skilled, mentally tough and physically fit.  His players are expected to excel on the pitch and in the classroom. Which he believes in developing future leaders with values and believes that success strives from a family effort by creating a competitive learning environment.

Coach Marco will be heading up the new FC Westlake South Austin Program with a focus on combining his success as a coach with the strong reputation of Westlake FC to better serve South Austin soccer families.
