"I'm excited to be joining the FC Westlake coaching staff. For the last year I've been consistently impressed with the organization, professionalism, and values of this club. The interest of the player truly comes first here, and there's no where else in town I'd rather be coaching."
2018-Present: FC Westlake (Austin, TX) Staff Coach
2017-2018: FC Westlake (Austin, TX) Jr. Academy Coach
2014-2017: North Austin Soccer Alliance (Austin, TX) Coach
Brian grew up playing club soccer in the Dallas Classic League which at the time was the highest level of youth soccer in North Texas. He continues to play soccer as a central midfielder with the Austin Athletic Club and takes some pride in being one of the oldest players still playing in the open first division of the Austin Men's Soccer Association.
He began coaching soccer for his niece's YMCA team as a volunteer coach 9 years ago, and hasn't looked back. He absolutely loves coaching and sharing his love for the sport with his players. He's passionate about always looking for ways to become a better coach, and is excited to be on a staff where he can continue to learn from some of the area's most qualified coaches.
Brian likes to say he does "only the fun stuff!" In addition to playing and coaching soccer, he's also a musician and music teacher. As a performer, Brian has appeared in The New York Times and Rolling Stone; on air with NPR, the BBC, and RadioFrance; and on television with Austin City Limits on PBS, and NBC's Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
He holds a BM and MM in Music and Human Learning from UT-Austin, and lives at home with his wonderful, supportive wife and their two soccer-playing children.
