I enjoy coaching because I love working with children. I enjoy the sport of soccer and the challenges it presents people. I like to help young people develop and soccer is a great medium for that to occur. I believe in development first and foremost of each player in all four components par (technical, technical, physical and psychological) My focus is in developing every player individually in those components and have team success along the way.

After growing up in San Antonio and playing on youth teams there, Alex attended the University of Texas at Austin and majored in Sports Broadcast Journalism with concentrations in Spanish and Business as well as a certification in Mathematics.

Alex's first experience coaching was as head coach of the Middle School Boys and Girls Soccer program at Covington Middle School in Austin ISD. After achieving success and winning a Boys District Championship in his second year, Alex was offered the position of Boys JV Coach at Crockett High School. Alex eventually moved full time to Crockett High School as an Algebra 1 and 2 teacher where he was Course Group Leader for two years.

In 2014, Alex started coaching academy and select teams at Dynamo Juniors under the direction of Tim Chestney. At the same time he was promoted to Varsity Boys Coach at Crockett High School and has remained in that position ever since. During his time at Crockett he has helped guide the Varsity to back-to-back playoff appearances, something unprecedented in modern school history. In 2017, Alex was announced as Technical Director and later named Interim Director of Coaching for Dundee Juniors where he remained until joining FC Westlake as Director of Curriculum.
