Junior Academy FAQ's

What is the Junior Academy?

The Academy program is for players between the ages of 6-10 (born  2011-2007) who are ready for more of a challenge than recreational soccer and is their first opportunity to be trained by our professional coaches.

Who do we play against?

We participate in the Lonestar Jr. Academy League. It varies from season to season, but there are between 100-120 teams that play in the Jr. Academy League in Austin and is the largest Jr. Academy program in Texas.

When can my son/daughter join the Academy?

This Fall we will be enrolling players born between 2007 – 2011.

What equipment does my player need?

For each practice and game players need soccer specific shoes (cleats or turf shoes), a size 4 soccer ball, shinguards (worn under the socks), and a water bottle.

Is it possible to come into the Academy program with a friend and play on the same team?

Yes, for a player’s first season as a 2009, 2010, or 2011 birth year player. If the two players are at the same level of play they may remain together; however, if the players are at different playing levels, they may be moved to different teams in future seasons.

Can a rec team move up together as an Academy team?

Yes, rec teams are allowed to come into the Academy and may stay together for the first season (if that is the desire of the families). Beyond that first season, those players will be placed on teams in the same manner as all other players.

Who coaches the teams?

All Academy teams are coached by our professional staff. All coaches are KidSafe certified.

How are teams formed?

There are no tryouts, but we do use the first two weeks of the season as an evaluation period that our staff will use to place players on teams based on skill and ability. Each family will receive an email at the end of the second week of the season notifying them of their team and the coach that will be assigned to the team.

How many games are in the season?

Teams will have 8-12 games per season.

When and Where will the games be played ?

Games will be played at one of the five main fields: Westlake High School, Williamson County Regional Park, Town & Country, Westcreek, and Justin Lane. All games are played Saturday between 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM and/or Sundays between 12:00- 5:45 PM.

What size ball is used?

Academy players use a size 4 ball.

What is the refund policy?

There is a $35 admin fee for all refunds processed prior to the first date of training (Aug 22nd or 24th for Fall 2016) After these dates there are no refunds.
